In that case how many people who come to games would turn up in Heer with a Jager badge?

If it was 7 or more I'll do it :good:

How about the GD crowd, are they staying as GD or will they re-badge? Basically I don't want to keep rebadging for each game if we can pick a generic unit that could have been anywhere and will be written into future game scenarios?

Why be so specific, if you keep it to a general infantry look you can change regimental numbers to suit the battle. Turn up in field grey and battle, you cant be wrong. One Landser looks much like another. If you fancy getting exotic for a battle, change the shoulder boards and infantry assault badge and you can be Panzer Grenadier. No sewing needed so long as you chose generic litzen.
If you feel so lost that you need a name or unit to rally around give your group a catchy title? Wehrmacht Tactical Forces or WTF? Fat & Rubbish Airsoft Unit or FRAU [sorry Dink] Silly flipant ideas there but I think they serve to pass the message on. Be Wehmacht first, pick a regiment for each battle.
No one unit was in all the big battles, some came close. 116th [Windhund] were in Normandy, some units in Market Garden, the Bulge, the Rhine crossing, Aachen and the Rhur pocket. Previously as the 16th they saw action in Russia. 272 got about abit, an infantry division they relieved the 1st SS panzer LAH in Normandy.

Fair dos, back to my original position of not bothering with GD or Jager regalia. How many other people would turn up to a game just as Heer?

Me. I'm enjoying my Heer Geer more and more. Just bought a Richard Underpants M36 tunic and sidecap for an early war vibe.

OK despite sacking you off unmercifully at Glocke (which if we can see past the scenario "Abwehr, Waffen-SS & FJ unit" forces I might re-attach my Heer badges) will you be my speshul Heer (soon-to-die) friend? If the organisers recognise our minority rights and include us in the scenarios, I might even build the oft promised sentry boxes?

Sounds like a lot of work. How about just having a sign saying Wachlokal that we can put above a door. Then we can spend the game warming ourselves in front of a stove and drinking schnapps (until we're knife-killed by steely eyed commandos, etc)

Tend to agree with this. I lovethe non elite look . 28 Heer Panzer Divsions, 99 Heer infantry divisions ...only one wore a cuffetitle , and a few regiments. The majority of Germans went into battle undistinguised by any marks other than on their vehicles . Sat here today my M36 uniform can pass for pretty much anything from the invasion of Poland to the fall of Berlin ...when asked I've always quoted 27th Panzers, as it's as meaningless as any other unit chosen at random .
Embrace the Heer , go for Grau . ...and buy a Helmet and some Jackboots...look the part rather than the exception .

Gavin it's a bit chicken and egg....we put on scenarios to suit what people have rather than the other way round . We have bucked this trend occasionally to "encourage" diversity ..Arnhem for the Brits and Bryansk for the Russians ...but at the end of the day if we put on a game for Polish Line infantry only ..and 20 people splashed out on the kit ...we feel mightly obliged to run at least one Polish game a year etc.

Anyway I'm glad B&H has bought an early war cap....we might be having a game shortly when wearing an M43 cap would be three years too early......watch this space ....could be electrifying ...

Exactly! I understand thats the way it has to work but.... I am hoping that people reading this will think, hmm Waffen's not for me but that bunch of scruffy looking lowlife Heer could be just for me! The we wouldn't be a minority any more and you'd be forced to comply with our frankly ludicrous demands (see B&Hs post for details...)

This isn't a Waffen vs Heer thing, it just seems better to have at least a squad of Heer that look like the same (and as general as possible) unit and then a squad of FJ or SS, whatever the others want to do.

I got an early war cap also (smug).

Can we write a small bunch of Heer into the scenario at Glocke without breaking it?

Well, after a bit of thought, this perhaps seems to be the best direction to go in if we're going to try and get some decent numbers together. *puts hand up*

I'll rebadge one of my tunics to Heer Infanterie (which is what I'm assuming we're agreeing on) - i.e. white Waffenfarbe. Might as well put up a roster thread on the Landser section...

Oh, and Martin - shouldn't your sig say...

Meet the gang 'cos the boys are Heer...

 I'll get my greatcoat.....

Cool, any chance of a list of insignia and the pictures of the colours etc. for the Heer Infanterie?

Just the basics required - Heer chest eagle, shoulderboards with white Waffenfarbe, collar tabs - either Infanterie or generic. That's it. Remember that the s/board base colour should be appropriate to your tunic - i.e. if you've got an M36, you'll need bottle green; all others Feldgrau.

Saying that, I've just seen a few photos of M36 tunics with Feldgrau base s/boards!

From an article I've seen on the At The Front website, there is every combination of collar litzen and shoulder boards seen on every style of tunic - Some soldiers even went as far as sewing bottle green collars onto M43 tunics. Just pick what you like.

Signature observation noted and acted on Andy...

As regards s/boards you mean, Pat? Feldgrau wool base. Interestingly, Pirschen sent me HBT s/boards, which did not exist. However, they were Feldgrau wool on the other side, so problem sorted!

On the topic of shoulderboards. On an M36 overcoat, bottle green base with pzgren green waffenfarbe - 'plausable'?

I don't see why not, mate. Tip - most shops get the Pzgren and Gebirgsjäger s/boards the wrong way around. Pzgren should be the lighter shade of green.

Sweet, I'll post up some pics once I get it all together and we can pick holes in it, Jack boots should be ok, if I'm going for 1941/42 look?
